For A Better Future

Sudah berkulat nampaknya blog saya ni. Not that I don't have anything to blog about, I do, but I guess laziness took control. LOL. Alasan memanjang. Pfffttt. Kalau malas kate kan malas oii. Well, actually saya terdetik to blog about this one particular thing, dah lama nak blog about it, but I feel like I must blog about it now. Sebenarnya tadi dah on the way nak tido, tiba-tiba terasa perlunya nak blog about this like NOW. Macam la nak cakap pasal benda yang boleh menyelamatkan dunia ke ape kan. Sebenarnya I wanna talk about savings. Yes, I'm no financial consultant or pakar ekonomi or whatsoever. But, I have been through this, so I just wanna share it to others (as if there are actually ppl that read this blog -_-').

Anyway, when I first started working, which was on March last year, I have already started my savings. Particularly for marriage eventhough there was no plan and I don't even know exactly when is it gonna happen. So yeah, bukan nak menggatal ke ape, but just to be prepared for whatever lies ahead. I can say that I am pretty blessed because my dad still pays for my car (pheww, syukur!), I don't have to pay for rental since I am staying with my parents, I do own a credit card because it was given for free by hsbc for their employee, but  I have never activated it or have the intention to start using it YET. And I don't think the card is still valid anyways. So yeah. I am fortunate and I am thankful everyday for what Allah have given me. Since I don't have that much financial responsibilities, that does not give me the reason to go on splurging like as if I am that wealthy. Infact, it gave me more reason to save up even more than I should. One thing that people always got it wrong is on the concept of saving. What most people do when we talk about savings is what they have LEFT of their pay at the end of the month after spending it for this and that. If this is how you keep your savings, sila lah bermimpi indah untuk dapat apa yang di cita-cita kan.

First things first, you atleast need more than one bank account. Jadi, segera la ke kaunter maybank or cimb or bank islam or any other bank yang bdekatan and open up ur 2nd account. Then, on your payday itself, go to the atm and withdraw RM500 and go to the nearest charles&keith and get urself a brand new bag. Tak payah nak mengade! Dekat rumah dah ada 10 handbag, just because you saw a purple coloured hbag, apparently the only colour you don't own, terus nafsu membuak-buak nak beli *terasa sungguh di perli*. Note that, every month you have to divide your salary to three parts. First is for saving, second is for financial responsibilities (bills, fuels, etc) and the third one is for your own leisure. You need to know how much can you save monthly, jgnla sebab nak bersaving sangat pastu everyday dekat tempat keje makan roti bakar je :/. So lets say you would like to make a commitment of saving RM500/month. So straight away take out the RM500 from your salary account and transfer it to your 2nd account. Don't wait until the end of the month, jangan konon nye cakap " Takpe, I won't touch the RM500 allocated for my saving nye. I know, don't worry". Pasti akan di tergunakan jugak at the end of the day. Dengan jawapan, "Takpelah, next month bole save lagi". Lets say, every month you received about 2k. After deducting RM500, left you with 1.5k. So since you just started working, mampu bagi mak around RM300 je for now. So now left you with 1.2k. If you don't own a car or a house, so for now RM900 should be enough to be allocated for your bills, ptptn and your spendings to go to work. And the rest, RM300 is for your leisure. No matter what happen, try not to use your savings! Kalau dah terpaksa sangat nak bayar hutang ke ape use the one you put aside for leisure. Try not to take out your savings at all.

We just have to discipline ourselves, to consistently keep the same amount monthly. Mungkin akan ada bulan-bulan yang dah kering sangat, road tax mati lah, lesen expired lah, kereta kene major service lah. So when things like that happens, takpelah if you can't save as much. But whenever you have extra, so save extra too. Bukannye untuk orang lain, untuk diri sendiri. Once in a while, boleh je nak treat yourself a new watch ke, bag ke. But again, spend wisely. Fikir dulu 10 kali especially when your planning to spend on something costly and pretty much unnecessary. Think forward, jangan fikir current je. The thing is, we like to spend on something that is not even a necessity. Just bcus everyone own it, we feel like we must own it too. When the truth is we can't really afford it. Kalau takde hutang, tak payah nak cari hutang. If you can't afford to own a car yet, then don't. If you can't afford to go somewhere far for a holiday, so go local.

Those things gonna happen one day anyway, you will own a car, you will own a house, you will be able to go to New York for a holiday. It's just the matter of time. Cuma kalau belum mampu, tak perlu lah nak paksa diri untuk mampu and suffers till the next pay. Sebab itulah perlu menyimpan duit, so that bila nak kahwin esok takdelah baru nak pening kepala fikir mana nak korek bayar itu ini, or nanti esok bila dah mampu boleh guna bayar downpayment rumah ke, kereta ke, nak pergi bercuti ke or whatever we have in plan for the future. Up to now, I'm thankful that I am able to save up eventhough dah terpakai sikit  (*byk sebenarnye) pergi OZ/NZ hari tu T_T. I can rationally think and differentiate on things that I need and don't need compared to baru-baru start kerja dulu. Every time payday je I feel like I need to treat myself. Konon dah kerja penat sangat la tu :/. When there are plenty things that I can actually use the money for instead of getting myself something I don't really need. If you don't start now, when are you ever gonna start?
